Waters Insurance Agency Lends a Hand to Parkersburg & Wood County Public Library with $5,000 Donation
Parkersburg, W.Va., June 17, 2022, -- Waters Insurance Agency, a top performing independent insurance agency, partnered with Westfield Insurance to award the Parkersburg & Wood County Public Library $5,000. The funds will go toward the purchase of new furniture for Williamstown Library.
Access to the funds was made possible by Waters Insurance Agency’s achievement as a Westfield agency. According to Westfield Insurance, a Propel designation is awarded to top agencies who have demonstrated a proven commitment to customers and superior performance industry wide. This year marks the fifth consecutive year Waters Insurance Agency has received this distinguished honor.

Once again, we are pleased to be recognized for our strong industry performance and to be afforded the opportunity to nominate the Parkersburg & Wood County Public Library,” said agent Amy Caruthers of Waters Insurance Agency.
This year, the grant program funded by Westfield Insurance Foundation focused on helping families overcome barriers in education, finance, housing, and jobs and recover from disasters, such as the fallout from the events of the last two years, which made the Parkersburg & Wood County Public Library a fitting recipient.

Not only is literacy at the core of educational success, but the library provides free educational programs, community events, and a safe place for children and teens to spend their free time,” said agent John Fanta of Waters Insurance Agency.
“The timing of this grant was perfect” said Library Director Brian Raitz. “We just finished a campaign with Give Local MOV to raise funds for new furniture for current Williamstown Library and to be used in the new Williamstown Library we plan to build by the end of 2025. The awarding of the funds will enhance that project.”
This year, Westfield Insurance Foundation will donate $625,000 dollars to neighborhoods across the country. Waters Insurance Agency is one of only 100 agencies nationwide that earned the ability to nominate a nonprofit, including the Parkersburg & Wood County Public Library for the Westfield Legacy of Caring grant program. Westfield is proud to work with their independent agents in distributing more than $3.5 million since 2015.
On the local level, Waters Insurance Agency has partnered with the Westfield Foundation to award a total of $41,000 since 2018. Previous local recipients include West Virginia University of Parkersburg Foundation; American Red Cross of Parkersburg; Westbrook Health Services and Boys & Girls Club of Parkersburg.
